Beta Sigma Psi
Alpha Chapter
Spiritual
"Beta Sigma Psi was organized as a means of serving the Church - as a means to an end. let us therefore be vigilant lest the means become an end in itself, and Beta Sigma Psi exist only for the sake of Beta Sigma Psi and neglect its splendid opportunity to serve the Savior."
- Edgar Friedrichs, First Beta Sigma Psi National President
Spirituality is very important in the life of a Beta Sig. Each man in this organization is a committed Lutheran and strives to carry himself as a Christian Gentleman at all times. We encourage regular church attendance and involvement in church activities. Our members can be found in church as ushers, readers, worship assistants, and choir members. Sing Things (praise and worship songs in an informal setting) are held every few weeks and Bible Study is held once a week at the house. This past year, we have also begun having short prayer meetings at the house every Wednesday.
Pastor Rick Milas of University Lutheran Church is the house's pastoral advisor and is often over at the house for dinner or informal events. He is always happy to listen and talk to BetaSigs and other U of I students.
BetaSig Sundays are a long-standing tradition here at Alpha Chapter. Each Beta Sig Sunday, the entire house attends a Lutheran church in the community together.
